Art Deco was a popular international art design movement from 1925 until the 1940s. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, glamorous, functional, and modern. The designs had pronounced effect upon the decorative arts such as architecture, interior design and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, the graphic arts and film.

Miami Beach, Florida, has a large collection of Art Deco restored buildings. Los Angeles, California, is also rich in Art Deco architecture, particularly along Wilshire Boulevard, a main thoroughfare that experienced a building boom in the 1920s. New York and Chicago have a great many deco buildings, the famous skyscrapers are the best known, but notable deco buildings can be found in every neighborhood.
